Development Alternatives Group (DA) wurde 1982 als erste Social Enterprise für nachhaltige Entwicklung gegründet und ist Pionierin bei der Verbreitung von Lehmbau und Erdbau-Techniken im globalen Süden. Die Organisation hat die Tara Balram Mudblock Press (1984) entwickelt — ein Gerät zur Herstellung verdichteter Erdbausteine ohne Brennprozess — und baute 1987 ihr Hauptquartier in Neu-Delhi als eines der ersten modernen Lehmbau-Gebäude Indiens. Das Gebäude wurde 2007 zu einem Zero-Emissions-Bürogebäude umgestaltet und dient als Demonstrations- und Forschungsobjekt.
